Sneak Peek: Legal, Judicial, and Regulatory Sessions

WCI 2025 Conference Preview

WCI Sneak Peeks offer exclusive previews of the standout sessions, speakers, and events that make each breakout worth the buzz.
Here’s what’s in store for the Legal, Judicial, and Regulatory Sessions at WCI 2025.

A regular focus of the conference’s educational offerings are sessions and events involving the legal, judicial, and regulatory aspects of workers’ compensation. The depth of litigation and regulation run deep, despite having the term “self-execution” ubiquitously used when describing workers’ compensation systems.

Attendees can keep up with the latest rulings, changes, and trends with the following offerings:

“The PMI breakout program at WCI is probably the most comprehensive, and practical 2-day deep dive into how to effectively prepare for, conduct, and reach a bullet-proof, binding agreement at mediation. 85% of all litigation ends either at a mediation or because of the negotiations held at the mediation. So, if you are only honing your skills on legal procedures and techniques, you are not offering your clients your best services. All are welcome to attend and all will benefit”.  – Stuart Suskin, Professional Mediation Institute Chair

Ask The Regulators’ Meetings

Tuesday, August 19

Industry representatives can sometimes find it challenging to travel to various state capitols to meet with workers’ compensation regulators. WCI has partnered with the Southern Association of Workers’ Compensation Administrators (SAWCA) to provide an opportunity for conference attendees to schedule informal one-on-one meetings with state regulators. These meetings provide a great opportunity to discuss policy and regulatory issues facing your company and to build new relationships or strengthen existing ones.

The following jurisdictions are currently participating in the Ask-the-Regulator meetings: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, South Carolina, Virginia, and the Virgin Islands.

The panelists will discuss many of the major workers’ compensation cases that have been decided in the last year by the appellate courts.
